DANISH AZIZ is a research engineer in End-To-End Mobile Networks Research at Nokia Bell Labs, Stuttgart, Germany. After pursuing his M.Sc. degree in 2006, he joined Research and Innovation Center Alcatel S.E.L. Stuttgart. He moved to Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs Stuttgart in 2007. Motivated by the scientific environment in Bell Labs he pursued in parallel his Ph.D. degree. He started his career with the performance assessment of 3G and 4G-LTE radio access systems focusing Radio Resource Management, Mobility/Handover Optimization, Interference Coordination, Self-Organization of Wireless Networks, Multi User MIMO Communications and Interference Management in Heterogeneous Networks. He is currently involved in the development of 5G systems with a focus on radio access network architecture design for Extreme Mobile Broadband (xMBB) using millimeter waves (mmW) as well as Machine Type Communications (MTC) for Industrial Controls (I-4.0) and Autonomous Transport Systems (V2X). He has been leading the work package Multi-node/Multi-antenna Transmissions in METIS-I which was the first European funded research project laying the foundations of 5G. He is actively contributing in ongoing 5G-NORMA project.
