Dr.-Ing. Argishti Melikyan received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany in May 2014. At KIT, Argishti demonstrated the first plasmonic-organic hybrid (POH) Mach-Zehnder modulators for data modulations of 40 Gbit/s and working up to the RF frequencies of 65 GHz and beyond. He also contributed in demonstrations of novel plasmonic devices including SPP phase and absorption modulators, photodetectors, polarization splitters and mode converters. At Bell Labs, he is responsible for the development of novel coherent receiver and transmitter designs, efficient fiber-to-chip coupling schemes, athermal SiPh circuits, and broadband and low-loss silicon photonic passives. He has authored or coauthored about 80 journal articles and conference publications as well as he is a primary inventor on 10 patents. He is currently an associate editor of Optics Express, OSA and sub-committee member for Optical Fiber Communication Conference, OSA and IPC Optical Interconnects, IEEE. His current research interests are silicon photonics, III-V/Si hybrid integration, numerical methods in electromagnetics and digital signal processing (DSP).
