Socio-Economic Benefits of New Zealand’s Ultra-Fast Broadband and Rural Broadband Initiative Programs
This study outlines an economic analysis undertaken by Bell Labs, the research and innovation engine of Alcatel-Lucent, on the social and economic impacts for New Zealand of UFB and RBI, and the high-speed broadband applications that these networks will enable.
By capitalizing on the ultra-broadband capabilities of G.fast, service providers can deploy FTTH services without actually having to bring fiber all the way into the building or home.
DOCSIS® for LTE small cell backhaul: Addressing performance and throughput requirements for mobile backhaul
Small cells can be used to increase wireless network capacity, provide coverage in areas where there is no or poor macro cell coverage, or to provide contiguous coverage and capacity in targeted high-value locations. Control signaling performance (delay/jitter/loss) and bandwidth throughput needs for small cells can place very stringent requirements on backhaul networks. The use of cable networks, given the extensive distribution of coaxial across residential and business locations, is one option for small cell backhaul. Therefore, it is important to understand the small cell performance and throughput levels that different cable networks can support given their varying characteristics.
