Wolfram Lautenschläger received the diploma degree at the St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI", Russia, in 1982. After three years of working in CAD system design at Robotron in Dresden he joined the University of Public Transportation and Communication in Dresden, where he received the Dr.-Ing. degree in 1989. In 1993 he started his carrier at Alcatel, Stuttgart, as a specialist for software design technology and software quality assurance. In 2000 he joined the Alcatel Corporate Research Center in Stuttgart, optical networking department, with focus on prototype implementations of high speed optical burst / packet switching systems. Since 2007, in Bell-Labs, the focus has shifted to higher layers of packet transport, particularly on traffic statistics, link / path provisioning, congestion control, buffer dimensioning, and active queue management.
