Biography

Rafael Laufer received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. In 2011, he received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

He is currently a Member of Technical Staff at Nokia Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ. During his Ph.D. studies, he worked as a Research Intern at Bell Labs, Technicolor Paris Research Lab, Cisco Systems, and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). His major research interests are wireless networks, distributed systems, network security, and cloud computing.

Dr. Laufer received the Marconi Society's Young Scholar Award in 2008 in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and intellectual promise in the field of communications science. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
