Biography

I am a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey. I received a B.S. degree from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from WINLAB, Rutgers University, New Jersey, all in Electrical Engineering. My research interests are in the general areas of communication systems, information theory and signal processing. Some of my recent projects focus on capacity/performance improving techniques for 4G+ cellular networks (e.g. LTE and beyond) such as CoMP, NICE, Network MIMO and Small Cells/Heterogeneous Networks. I am a recipient of the Best Paper Award in International Conference on Communications (ICC’06) for the work on multiple antenna coordinated cellular networks, a.k.a. Network MIMO, co-authored with G.J. Foschini, R.Valenzuela and R.Yates.
