NAME
sc2sbcs - convert an SCCS file to a new SBCS file.

SYNOPSIS
     sc2sbcs [-nsv] [-f flag[val]] [-g sccs-get-cmd] sccs-file
     sbcs-file

DESCRIPTION
sc2sbcs converts an existing SCCS s-file to a new SBCS s-
     file.

Version and history information is extracted from the SCCS
s-file and used to create a new SBCS s-file. The informa-
tion that is preserved includes the original SID, delta
sequence number, date and time, author, list of MRs and com-
ments for all deltas, actual and removed. The file descrip-
tive text, user list and flags are also preserved.

Predecessor sequence numbers reflect the underlying dif-
ferencing implementation and are in general not preserved.
An application should not rely on predecessor sequence
     numbers.

The information on included or excluded deltas is not
preserved, because SBCS has no use for it. This does not
affect the integrity of any of the versions transformed. If
the new file were reconverted to SCCS, using sb2sccs, the
new SCCS file may be larger than the original one because
storage efficiences realized with -i and -x cannot be
recreated. Again, this does not affect the integrity of any
     version.

The SCCS character-count statistics for deltas is regen-
     erated, except for removed deltas.

sc2sbcs generates an sh(1) and awk(1) script and then runs
it. It is possible to run the command to simply generate
     the intermediate script.

OPTIONS
-n Don't run the script. The intermediate sh executable
script is preserved as sc2sb.sh and it is not run.
sc2sbcs will not overwrite an existing sc2sb.sh file.

-s Silent mode. Suppress all non-error information. Nor-
mally some status information is printed to standard
          output.

-v Verbose mode. Allow all SBCS and SCCS commands used by
the script to print their usual messages to standard
          out.

     -fw comp
Set compression scheme to comp in the new sbcsfile. If
comp is null, do not use compression in the resulting
SBCS file. See nadmin(1) for a review of possible comp
          values.

     -fy diff
Set differencing scheme to diff in the new sbcsfile. If
diff is null, do not use differencing in the resulting
SBCS file. See nadmin(1) for a review of possible diff
values. Only in exceptional circumstances should dif-
          ferencing be turned off.

     -g sccs-get-cmd
Full path of the SCCS get command to use to retrieve
versions from the SCCS file. That path is then also
used for the SCCS admin, delta and prs commands.

FILES
All temporary files are created in the directory specified
by TMPDIR, TEMP, TMP or the sbcsenv variable tmpdir. They
are removed before completion of sc2sbcs.

The SCCS g-file is also created and cannot pre-exist. The
SBCS g-file, p-file, z-file and Z-file are all created dur-
ing the conversion. They are removed at the end of the
     conversion.
