NAME
nsact - show the editing activity on an SBCS file

SYNOPSIS
     nsact [-sNRY] s-file ...

DESCRIPTION
nsact shows all current editing activity on any version of
     an SBCS s-file (see nadmin(1)).

An nsact command line begins with option arguments and ends
with s-file arguments. s-file arguments can be any mix of
s-files, directories and a single - character (see nad-
     min(1)).

For each valid s-file, nsact prints out the contents of the
p-file. If the p-file does not exist, nsact prints a warn-
ing. The p-file records consist of five to seven blank
     separated fields.

          Gotten SID
the SID of the original gotten version.

          New {SID}
the SID reserved for the new version.

          User Name
the password UID name of the user that is editing
               the gotten version.

Date the date that nget -e was executed.

Time the time that nget -e was executed.

          -g Gotten Name
the name of the gotten version, if it has a name.

          -n New Name
the name of the new version, if it has a name.

OPTIONS
-s Run silently. If the command line specifies more than
one s-file, or if it specifies a directory or -, nsact
first prints the name of the s-file. The -s option
suppresses this information. Warnings are also
          suppressed. Error messages are unaffected.

-N No execution. nsact simply prints the s-file it would
normally check, but nothing else is printed.

-R Recursive mode. For all s-file arguments that are
          directories, descend recursively into all

          subdirectories to search for s-files.

-Y Suppress any y/n prompt that may arise by always
answering y. Such prompts are not always predictable
and can arise from requests to restore the s-file. See
NOTES on Y/N Prompts in nadmin(1) and below.

NOTES
     Multiple Files
nsact is an effective multi-file command because it
does not require a version to be specified.

     Multi-User
nsact only needs read and search (execute) permissions
on the s-file directories and read permissions on the
p-files. It does not require to be run set-UID with
          the SBCS administrator's permissions (see nadmin(1) -
          MULTI USER ACCESS and sbcsproj(1)).

     Y/N Prompt
nsact may be interrupted by prompts to restore s-files.
In a multi-user setting the restoration is expected to
fail because nsact will not, usually, have the permis-
sions needed to modify an s-file.

     Common Code
nscat shares the same executable as nunget. The com-
mand behaves as nsact if its name contains sact.

COMPARISON WITH SCCS
     SBCS only:
Options -s and -NRY. A missing p-file is a warning in
SBCS, an error in SCCS. SBCS has a more general defin-
          ition of s-file arguments.

DIAGNOSTICS
Warning and error messages have error codes that can be used
with nhelp for a more detailed explanation.
