NAME
nhelp - explain the SBCS error codes
SYNOPSIS
nhelp [-i] [-h hilit] help-keyword ...
DESCRIPTION
nhelp retrieves information to further explain errors mes-
sages and warnings from SBCS commands. It also provides
some information about SBCS command usage. If no arguments
are given, nhelp will prompt for one.
A help-keyword may be a message number as it appears in
parentheses in each SBCS error or warning message, or an
SBCS command name. nhelp responds with an explanation of the
message or a usage line for the command.
There are also help pages on data_keywords, id_keywords and
SID.
OPTIONS
-i Interactive mode. nhelp will continue prompting for
keywords after help for the argument has been
displayed. If no argument is given, the -i option is
implied.
-h hilit
Specify highlight mode. The help text may contain some
highlighted information. hilit can be 1, 2 or 3. A
value of 1 means no highlight, 2 means underline, and
{3} means bold (the default). Whether the highlight is
visible or not depends on the pager and the terminal.
Of less(1), more(1), and pg(1), the first one usually
has the better highlighting capabilities.
FILES
$SBCS/help
directory containing readable help text files.
ENVIRONMENT
PAGER
This variable determines the program to page output and
express highlights (see -h option, above). If PAGER is
not set, the sbcsenv avriable pager [= "cat"] is used
COMPARISON WITH SCCS
SBCS message numbers and text do not match those of SCCS.
The SBCS help text file format differs from that of SCCS.
DIAGNOSTICS
The nhelp command can be used to interpret the nhelp error
codes (and so on).
