The Bell Labs Technical Journal publishes peer-reviewed articles from researchers solving the current challenges in information and communications technology (ICT).

The journal began publication in 1922 as the Bell System Technical Journal (BSTJ). It was relaunched after the restructuring of the Bell System in 1984 and published for the next 12 years under the titles AT&T Bell Laboratories Technical Journal and then AT&T Technical Journal.

Nokia is proud to partner with IEEE to provide access to Bell Labs’ full journal archive including the Bell System Technical Journal (1922-1983), AT&T Bell Laboratories Technical Journal (1984), AT&T Technical Journal (1985-1996), and the Bell Labs Technical Journal (1996-present). We are pleased to share several important (and popular) papers from our research in areas fundamental to the creation of today’s information infrastructure.
