NICTA
NICTA (National ICT Australia - www.nicta.com.au) is Australia’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence. With over 700 people across five laboratories in four cities, NICTA is the largest organization in Australia dedicated to ICT research. Their focus is on use–inspired basic research to address the technology challenges facing industry, community and the national interest.
NICTA is helping to build a sustainable Australian ICT sector by:
- Making fundamental advances in ICT that can underpin the development of globally competitive products, processes and services.
- Building innovative ICT companies.
- Contributing skills and outcomes that are changing the profile of our ICT industry.
NICTA works with collaborative partners across many application areas including: biomedical and life sciences, intelligent transport systems, safety and security, environmental management, mobile systems and services, software infrastructure.
NICTA is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government through the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and the Australian Research Council through the ICT Centre of Excellence program.
NICTA is also funded and supported by the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland and Victorian Governments, The Australian National University, Griffith University, University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and The University of Sydney.
