iMinds

iMinds, formerly known as The Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology (www.iminds.be/en) is an independent research institute founded by the Flemish government to stimulate ICT innovation. iMinds unites more than 600 researchers from various Flemish universities and knowledge centers and brings them together with companies, authorities, and non-profit organizations to join forces in developing new technologies and applications in the following areas: culture and media; health; green ICT; and mobility and logistics. An important mission of iMinds is the creation of highly competent human capital in different aspects of ICT through multi-disciplinary demand-driven research. This includes all technological, legal, and social dimensions of the development and exploitation of broadband technologies and services. The objective is to make Flanders a leading and internationally recognized player in the information society of the future. iMinds is also playing a major role in future Internet research in Europe.

"ICT is a key enabler for a sustainable society. iMinds is committed to a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to develop ICT technologies that are energy efficient on their own and that will more generally contribute to a more efficient and green energy usage. Within the GreenTouch consortium, iMinds will focus on energy optimization in fixed and wireless networked infrastructures"

-Piet Demeester, Head of the Future Internet Department, iMinds - Ghent University
