GreenTouch Open Workshop

The 36th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), held in 2010 in Turin, Italy, is Europe’s leading conference for presenting to the international technical community the results of current scientific work, as well as major innovations in technologies related to optical communications.

As one of the most respected and long-standing events in the field, ECOC is a premier forum for introducing new developments and results regarding optical materials, devices, and systems for applications in telecommunications and networking.

In a highly informative workshop conducted at this prestigious event, GreenTouch representatives ‒ including the chairs of the GreenTouch Technical Committee, the Applications & Trends Committee, and the chairs of the working groups on Core Networks ‒ all gave technical presentations about GreenTouch and its various activities that are well underway.

This well-attended session also included a panel discussion consisting of world-renowned experts, together with GreenTouch and non-GreenTouch members, that addressed the question, "In what ways can optics be used to create the largest increase in network energy efficiency?"
