Established in January 2010, GreenTouch is a global consortium of service providers, industrial labs, equipment vendors, and academic institutions from across the communications industry whose goal is to increase the energy efficiency of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) networks by a factor of 1000.  This will be done by together developing fundamentally new network architectures and inventing the enabling technologies on which those networks will be based.  (www.greentouch.org)

About Gee Rittenhouse:

Gee Rittenhouse is Vice President, Bell Labs Research, overseeing all Bell Labs research centers and research activities for Alcatel-Lucent.  In this role, Gee is responsible for leading the teams in charge of creating new growth opportunities by inventing technologies with disruptive impact.  These responsibilities include the overall research portfolio from project inception through transfer to the Solutions and Marketing organization, a Product/Services group, or an internal venture or technology license.

Gee received his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1986 and his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993.  In 2002, Gee received the Bell Labs Fellow Award. He has numerous publications and patents in the areas of wireless systems and circuits.
