Case Study 1: Future X Network Evolution Strategy for European CSP
Challenge: We need to better rationalize future network investments in light of increasing local competition and network modernization imperatives.
Methodology: We identified key big-bets to unlock future business growth, we defined a fit-for-future multi-faceted technology and network evolution strategy, we evaluated the economic impact of the proposed network transformation, and we provided over 28+ concrete and actionable recommendations in support of the proposed business transformation plan.
Value Creation: We identified concrete opportunities to increase revenue by 30% and reduce network TCO by 29% within the target timeframe.
Case Study 2: Edge Cloud Architecture Strategy for Tier 1 African converged CSP
Challenge: How should we repurpose our current central offices to significantly increase our network’s revenue and profit generating potential?
Methodology: We identified new digital services, especially those low latency applications enabled by the edge cloud, and estimated associated costs and revenue. We conducted a multi-dimensional evaluation of central office (CO) sites based on new services, potential revenue growth and TCO savings. Finally, we developed a converged network strategy with matching virtual network function (VNF) placement to transform CO’s into edge and core cloud nodes.
Value Creation: We proposed new services and edge cloud based transformation that would lead to 54% higher revenue and 13% higher EBITDA, with 20% lower CapEx intensity by 2022.
Case Study 3: Spectrum and Network Strategy for Tier 1 APAC CSP
Challenge: How can we gain an enduring competitive advantage, considering spectrum, network technology, device availability and service costs?
Methodology: We benchmarked a traffic forecast and network KPIs against regional peers and we then used a Bell Labs developed analytical tool, the Wireless Strategy Optimization Engine, to develop an optimal strategy. Then we expaned the analysis to include diverse what-if scenarios.
Value Creation: We delivered a playbook for an optimal evolution strategy offering a 17% decrease in TCO, 10% reduction in sites, and a 30% decrease in device cost. That would result in at least $650 million TCO savings.
