Marty Glapa is a Partner and Bell Labs Fellow in Bell Labs Consulting, where he leads R&D for High Performance Converged Networks.
Marty’s responsibilities include leading the creation of innovative business and network/technical analytical models and simulations for optical, IP, wireless, fiber/copper/coax access, and SDN/NFV. Marty’s collective experience and background includes network and business modeling, systems architecture, strategy planning, systems engineering, architecting and modeling various network and broadband access technologies, business development, teaching hardware and software development courses, and software development.
He is an expert in cable networks with a 24-year history in the cable industry that includes both recent and pioneering work in next-generation access architectures, network systems integration, applied research on enabling interactive applications, delivery of consulting services around the world, cable standards contributions, and pioneering work in interactive TV and VoIP over cable networks. He began his work in the cable industry in Bell Labs by architecting and modeling the first video on demand, VoIP, and interactive television networks.
Marty has published numerous articles in various trade publications and has authored and delivered numerous papers at various technical conferences. He holds four patents. Marty has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. He is an avid outdoorsman and lives in Golden, Colorado, with his wife Pat. Marty is also on the electrical engineering/computer science advisory boards for two universities in Colorado.
