Welcome to the Bell Labs Prize
The Bell Labs Prize is a competition for innovators around the globe that seeks to recognize proposals that ‘change the game’ in the field of information and communications technologies by a factor of 10, and provides selected innovators the unique opportunity to collaborate with Bell Labs researchers to help realize their vision.
Who can enter?
We welcome applications from innovators from participating jurisdictions around the globe. If you have a 10x game-changing idea and are interested in developing it with leading Bell Labs researchers, you have come to the right place. Terms and conditions apply.
The competition opens in the spring and has two stages; in the first stage, up to 50 proposals will be selected to be paired with Bell Labs researchers, to help expand upon the idea and make it real. In the second stage, 10 finalists will be selected to compete for the 3 prizes at an event scheduled for December 2017, in front of a panel of renowned experts and industry leaders. More details will be available when the 2017 schedule is finalized.
Bell Labs will be awarding a 1st prize of $100k, 2nd Prize of $50k and 3rd prize of $25k. All three winners will also be considered for the unique opportunity to work within the world-renowned Bell Labs to further explore their ideas, following the end of the competition.

In 2016 first prize was awarded to the team of Professor Hossein Hashemi, Research Associate Dr. SungWon Chung, and Ph.D. candidate Hooman Abediasl, all from the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering at USC Viterbi.
The competition is heating up as innovators from around the world vie for the prestigious Nokia Bell Labs Prize of US$100,000.
