I joined the Alcatel Research Center in Stuttgart 1990. First I investigated system aspects in optical switching. Later I dealt with more general network aspects and network simulations. During a short journey on hardware aspects I investigated novel buffer technologies for network processors and simulated them with SystemC. Later I designed a client for the ALTO protocol, which is a novel protocol to distribute network information to applications. Currently, I investigate new methods to reduce energy consumption in telecommunication networks.
1990 Dipl. Ing. (equivalent to MSc) , Thesis on finite element method for the calculation of electromagntic field distributions in optical waveguides
